Transportation Services

Minimize

A number of transportation services are available to faculty, staff and students to get around campus and the Bowling Green community.  These include:

  • Topper Transit - WKU's very own transit service provides service between main campus and South Campus, around campus, and to evening shopping destinations.
  • GObg - Bowling Green's public transit system stops on campus, too!  Bus passes are available for purchase at Parking and Transportation Services.
  • Provide - A - Ride -  Provide a Ride is a late night, on call service to reduce drinking and driving.

Topper Transit

Minimize

WKU’s convenient, free transit service provides transportation to faculty, staff and students on campus, between main and south campus, and off campus in the evenings. Topper Transit routes include:

  • The White Line - Connects main campus and south campus.
  • The Red Line - On the main campus, provides service from the perimeter parking lots to academic buildings.
  • The Green Line - Provides evening service between main campus, south campus, and off-campus shopping areas.
  • Paratransit Service - On call service for disabled faculty, staff and students.

Important Transit Changes for Fall 2009

Red Line Extended to South Campus

The Red Line now extends to South Campus to alleviate crowding on the White Line and to increase frequency of service to the Campbell Lane Park & Ride Lot.  A bus will now leave South Campus approximately every 4-5 minutes.

The Red Line will travel up Chestnut St. to the top of the Hill and come down State St. to Normal Dr.

Important Change:  After stopping at PFT, the Red Line will return to South Campus instead of going "up the Hill".

Introduction to Visitor Shuttle

A new Visitor Shuttle will provide shuttle service for visitors, paratransit service for disabled customers, and shuttle service for commuters parking in the Center Street Gravel Lot.

Shelter Relocations

Mimosa shelter was relocated to the Keen Hall stop as part of the College of Education (COE) project.  When the COE is finished, a new bus pull off bay, shelter and numerous bike racks will be installed.  The Grise Hall shelter is being moved to the Creason stop.  Bike racks will also be added to the Creason stop.  The concrete pad left at the Grise Hall stop will be utilized for bike parking.

Stops Removed

Due to lack of ridership, the Grise Hall stop and the Kentucky Museum stop (on College Heights Blvd), have been discontinued.

White Line (former South Campus Loop)

Minimize

The White Line provides service between main campus and south campus.  It is used by students who live on campus who are taking classes on south campus and by students using the Campbell Lane Park and Ride service to get to main campus.  On the main campus, stops are conveniently located around the perimeter of campus to serve most of the academic and residential areas of campus. Click here for schedules

Red Line (former Internal Loop)

Minimize

The Red Line provides service on the main campus from perimeter commuter parking lots to the eastern edge of campus.  Parking lots served include the Chestnut Street Lots and Center Street Gravel Lot.  Service is provided to academic and residential buildings along State Street and Normal Drive along the eastern edge of campus.  Click here for schedules

Green Line (former Shopping Shuttle)

Minimize

The Green Line serves two functions:

  • It provides service between the main campus and south campus in the evenings to return students to their residence halls or vehicles.
  • It provides service to off campus shopping areas, including Wal-Mart, Greenwood Mall, and Barnes and Nobles shopping center.

The Green Line operates from 6:00 PM until 10:00 PM weeknights, and 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM on Saturdays. When classes are out of session, and during summer term, service is provided from 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Click here for schedules.

Park and Ride (Campbell Lane Lot)

Minimize

A convenient alternative to trying to find a parking space on campus is to use the Campbell Lane Park and Ride Lot. This is a cost effective, time saving service from the Campbell Lane Lot and South Campus to main campus.

  • Campbell Lane parking permits are only $30/year for students.  In addition to the Campbell Lane parking lot, Campbell Lane permits are honored on the main campus in All Permit Zones and Commuter zones (except PS2) after 2:30 PM.  They are also honored in all zones (except Housing) after 4:30 PM.
  • The White Line route provides transit service every 10 minutes during the academic year.  Bus stops are conveniently located around the perimeter of campus and provide near "front door" service to many academic and residential buildings.

The Campbell Lane Park and Ride service is recommended for commuting students who arrive to campus between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM, for residential students taking classes at South Campus, or residential students seeking a low cost parking alternative.

Paratransit Service

Minimize

Paratransit service is available to faculty, staff and students with a temporary or permanent disability who do not have reasonable access to shuttle services. This option is determined on a case by case basis through the Parking & Transportation Department.  Registration is required.  See Paratransit Services for more details.

GObg, Bowling Green's public transit system, provides paratransit service throughout the City of Bowling Green.  For more information, contact the GObg Office at 782-3162 or e-mail them at mailto:contact@casoky.org

Please allow 90 minutes travel time from point of pickup.  The TSA recommends arriving at least 2 hours before your flight.  You might also want to check the average security wait times to see how long the lines are at the time you'll be arriving.  All shuttles are subject to multiple pick-ups and drop offs along the way.  Please plan accordingly.

Returning Information

Upon arrival at Nashville International Airport, please meet your driver (or check for a message) at the Welcome Center/Information Desk located on the baggage claim level between carousels 5 & 6.

Delayed Return/Arriving Flight Policy

When scheduled flight is delayed, Yellow Cab will make every effort to accommodate the client.  However, if the delay interferes with another scheduled shuttle the delay party will be reassigned to the next available shuttle as necessary, and will be picked up as soon as possible after the delayed flight has arrived.  For a complete list of Terms and Conditions contact Yellow Cab.
